(17484) Ganghofer is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 13, 1991 by the German astronomers Freimut Börngen and Lutz D. Schmadel at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033).

The asteroid was named after the German writer Ludwig Ganghofer (1855-1920), who became known for his homeland novels and plays .
