(1852) Carpenter ( 1955 GA ; 1931 TT 2 ; 1937 WH ; 1939 FK ) is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on April 1, 1955 at the Goethe Link Observatory . The asteroid was named after Edwin Frances Carpenter (1898–1963), an American astronomer .
