(21059) Penderecki is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on April 9, 1991 by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen at the observatory of the Thuringian state observatory in Tautenburg ( IAU code 033).

The asteroid is named after the Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki (* 1933), who is considered one of the leading composers of the Polish avant-garde and who caused a sensation primarily with his sound compositions .
