(23032) Fossey is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 3 December 1999 by Australian amateur astronomer John Broughton on Reedy Creek Observatory ( IAU code 428) in Queensland , Australia was discovered.

The asteroid is named after the American zoologist and behavioral scientist Dian Fossey (1932–1985), who achieved international renown primarily through her research on mountain gorillas .
