(2602) Moore is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 24 January 1982 by the American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station ( IAU code 688) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County was discovered.

The asteroid was named on August 4, 1982 after the English amateur astronomer and television presenter Sir Patrick Moore (1923–2012). Moore is the author of more than 70 books on astronomy and a member and president of the British Astronomical Association .
