(3589) Loyola is an asteroid of the main belt , which on January 8, 1984 of the American US astronomer Joe Wagner at the Anderson Mesa Station ( IAU code 688), a branch of the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff , was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the Basque town of Loyola in the province of Gipuzkoa , where Ignatius of Loyola , the founder of the Jesuit order , was born.
