(3746) Heyuan is an asteroid of the main belt , which on October 8, 1964 at the Purple Mountain Observatory in Nanjing was discovered.

The asteroid was named on May 23, 2000 after the city of Heyuan , which is known, among other things, for a very large number of dinosaur eggs found.
