(4244) Zakharchenko is a main belt asteroid discovered on October 7, 1981 by Lyudmila Ivanovna Chernych from the Crimean Observatory .

The asteroid was named after the Russian writer and journalist Vasilij Dmitrievich Zakharchenko .
