(4257) Ubasti is a near-Earth asteroid of the Apollo type , which was discovered on August 23, 1987 by the American astronomer Jean Mueller at the Palomar Observatory ( observatory code 675) in California .
The asteroid is named after Ubasti , the daughter of the sun god Re , portrayed as a cat in Egyptian mythology .
