The asteroid (43669) Winterthur was discovered on April 16, 2002 by Markus Griesser , director of the Eschenberg observatory in Winterthur ( Switzerland ).
The name proposed by the discoverer pays tribute to the sixth largest Swiss city in which the observatory is located.
