(6035) Citlaltépetl is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 27 July 1987 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at de Observatoire Haute-Provence ( Observatories Code 511) was discovered in southeastern France.
The asteroid is named after the volcano Citlaltépetl , located in the Sierra Volcánica Transversal near the city of Orizaba , which is the highest volcano in North America and the highest mountain in Mexico with its height of 5636 m .
