(843) Nicolaia is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 30, 1916 by the Danish astronomer Holger Thiele in Hamburg-Bergedorf .
The asteroid was named after the Danish astronomer and mathematician Thorvald Nicolai Thiele , the father of the discoverer.
