(99949) Miepgies (provisional designation 1972 FD ) is a main belt - Asteroid that on 16 March 1972 by the astronomer Tom Gehrels at Palomar Observatory was discovered.

The asteroid was named in 2009 after the Dutch woman Miep Gies , who celebrated her 100th birthday that same year. Miep Gies helped Anne Frank , her family, the van Pels and Fritz Pfeffer families, to go into hiding during the Second World War , and after their deportation saved Anne Frank's diary . An asteroid is also named after Anne Frank, namely (5535) Annefrank .
