Árskógssandur

Árskógssandur is a settlement in the northeast of Iceland .

It can be reached via the Ólafsfjarðarvegur S82 and the Árskógssandsvegur S808. The distance to Akureyri is 34 kilometers by road. From here the ferry Sævar to the island of Hrísey starts . The island can also be reached via the Sæfari ferry from Dalvík . The settlement has 107 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) and belongs to the municipality of Dalvíkurbyggð . There are two fish processing plants in the village and the Bruggsmiðjan brewery since 2006.

The Árskógsströnd bank section on the west bank of the Eyjafjörður is named after the Stærra-Árskógi homestead. The church and school for this area, which Hauganes also belong to, are also located there . The settlement is actually called Litli-Árskógssandur , but the litli ( isl. Small ) has already been omitted from the place name sign .
