Åke Edwardson
Åke Edwardson (born March 10, 1953 in Vrigstad south of Jönköping ) is a Swedish author of crime novels .
Life
Edwardson is one of the most successful Swedish crime writers, alongside Henning Mankell , Liza Marklund , Sjöwall / Wahlöö , Håkan Nesser , Arne Dahl and Stieg Larsson . The latter, who, like Edwardson, was a journalist, he knew very well personally. Åke Edwardson lives in Gothenburg .
Before starting his actual writing career, Edwardson worked for over 20 years as a journalist on behalf of the United Nations in the Near and Middle East and Cyprus and as a freelance journalist in other parts of the world, writing on sports, travel, literature and foreign policy. He was the co-author of two basic textbooks on journalism . He trained journalists at the University of Gothenburg .
Edwardson has been writing detective novels since the mid-1990s. All of his novels about Commissioner Erik Winter in Gothenburg, Sweden, have also been published in German. Åke Edwardson regularly reads in Germany when the German editions of his books are published. Åke Edwardson speaks German, but Oliver Mommsen regularly reads in German .
In an interview with SPIEGEL online on June 21, 2008, Edwardson stated that after 10 episodes around his protagonist Winter, he would no longer write any more crime novels. After a four-year break, however, further commissioner winter novels were published from 2012 onwards.
