Éder Aleixo (born May 25, 1957 in Vespasiano ; actually Éder Aleixo de Assis ) is a former Brazilian football player .

Éder Aleixo played between May 1979 and April 1986 a total of 54 times for the Brazilian national soccer team and scored eight goals. He was part of the Seleção squad at the 1979 Copa America and was used once. In his first two international matches against Paraguay on May 17, 1979 and Uruguay, he scored once each. Éder was also in the squad at Mundialito 1980/81, but was only used once in the final nine minutes before the end. He became internationally known for his participation in the 1982 World Cup , in which he played in all five Brazilian games and scored two of the most beautiful goals of the World Cup. At that time he was considered one of the best left wingers in the world. The clearly favored Seleção, celebrated as the “Dream Team”, scored 15 goals in five games and showed high-class football, but was surprisingly eliminated with a 2: 3 against the Italian national football team . At the Copa America 1983 Eder was the best Brazilian shooter with two goals. He got his nickname O Canhão ("the cannon") because of his tremendous shooting power.

At national level he won the regional championship twice with Gremio Porto Alegre and six times with Atlético Mineiro .
