Edgar Dueñas (born March 5, 1983 in Guadalajara , Jalisco ) is a Mexican football player on the position of defender .

Life

society

In the 2002/03 season Dueñas played at Deportivo Cihuatlán , who completed their only season in the second-rate Primera División 'A' that season before the club sold its second division license. Then Dueñas received a contract with the first division club Deportivo Toluca , where he developed into an indispensable regular player in the years to come. In his eleven years at Toluca, he won the Mexican championship three times with the Diablos Rojos .

National team

Dueñas made his debut for the Mexican national team in a friendly match against Norway (2-1) held on January 25, 2006, in which he was used over the full distance of 90 minutes. His next outing for “El Tri” was a long time coming until November 12th, 2008, when he also completed the full distance of 90 minutes in a friendly against Ecuador (2-1). He played his (so far) last international match in a friendly against Venezuela (3-1) on January 25, 2012, also over the full distance.

During the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2011 Dueñas tested positive for the use of Clenbuterol along with four other Mexican national players and was immediately removed from the squad . All players were later rehabilitated after FIFA found that the accused had accidentally and unknowingly ingested the prohibited substance from eating contaminated meat during a pre-tournament training camp.
