Edouard d'Anglemont

Édouard d'Anglemont (born December 28, 1798 in Pont-Audemer , Département Eure , † April 22, 1876 in Paris ) was a French poet of the romantic school.

Life

D'Anglemont was the son of the Commissaire de la marine H. d'Anglemont; his grandfather was the head of the naval administration of Dunkerque , Département Nord . After graduating from school, d'Anglemont also got a job in the administration of the Navy.

reception

In 1825 d'Anglemont made a successful debut with his anthology " Odes légitimistes". After some not so successful works, his "Pèlerinages" were again received with great enthusiasm by the public and literary criticism. These were to very evocative descriptions of Chantilly , Pau Castle , Castle Chenonceaux , Arena of Nîmes , Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and the Basilica of Saint-Denis .
