Édouard Etienne Alphonse de Rothschild (born December 27, 1957 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) is a French businessman, publisher and show jumper. He is a member of the French branch of the Rothschild banking family .

Édouard de Rothschild is the son of Guy de Rothschild and Marie-Hélène van Zuylen van Nyevelt. In 1982 he married Mathilde Alexe Marie Christiane Coche de la Ferté. In 1991 he married Arielle Marie Mallard, the vice-president of the aid organization CARE France. Rothschild has three children: the twins David and Ariella and Ferdinand de Rothschild.

Career

Édouard de Rothschild studied in France Law and completed his studies in 1985 at the Stern School of Business in New York . In addition to owning some shares in the Château Lafite-Rothschild winery , he was head of the Paris-based Rothschild & Cie Banque from July 2003 to June 2004 , which he founded in 1987 with his half-brother David and his cousin Eric . Until May 2005 he was a member of the supervisory board of Imerys SA , his seat was taken over by his wife Arielle Malard de Rothschild. Equestrian sport

Édouard de Rothschild inherited the Haras de Meautry stud in Touques , where he breeds racehorses. In 2004 he was elected President of France Galop , the association of French racing team owners.

He is nationally and internationally active as a show jumper. Rothschild trained with Olympic champion Ludger Beerbaum .
