It belongs to the Arrondissement Provins and the Canton of Ozoir-la-Ferrière . Ferrières-en-Brie belongs to the Ville nouvelle Marne-la-Vallée . The inhabitants are called Ferrobriards .

Ferrières-en-Brie is located around 26 kilometers east of Paris and covers an area of 675 hectares. Neighboring communities are Bussy-Saint-Georges in the north and east, Pontcarré in the south and Collégien in the west.
