Mortcerf is a French commune with 1,445 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Seine-et-Marne in the region Ile-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement Provins and the canton of Fontenay-Trésigny (until 2015: canton of Rozay-en-Brie ). The inhabitants are called Moressartois .

Mortcerf is about 42 kilometers east-southeast of Paris . Mortcerf is surrounded by the neighboring communities Dammartin-sur-Tigeaux in the north, Guérard in the east and northeast, Hautefeuille in the east and southeast, Lumigny-Nesles-Ormeaux in the south and southeast, Crèvecœur-en-Brie in the south, La Houssaye-en-Brie to the south and south-west, Neufmoutiers-en-Brie to the west and Villeneuve-le-Comte to the north-west.
