Varennes-sur-Seine is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Grande-Paroisse in the north and west, Montereau-Fault-Yonne in the north-east and east, Cannes-Écluse in the east, Esmans in the south-east, Noisy-Rudignon in the south and Ville-Saint-Jacques in the southwest.
