Rebais is a French commune with 2,288 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Seine-et-Marne in the region Ile-de-France . It is located east of Paris, belongs to the Arrondissement Provins and is the administrative seat of the canton of Coulommiers . Their inhabitants are called Resbaciens.

history

Rebais was a double monastery founded in 635 by Saint Ouen . Destroyed by the Normans , it was rebuilt as a Benedictine abbey in the 9th century , where, among others, Walter von Rebais, who was later canonized, worked.
