Fontenay-Trésigny is a French municipality with 5574 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Seine-et-Marne in the region Ile-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement Provins and the canton of Fontenay-Trésigny .
Place names were: Fontenetum im bria - Fontenaio - villa fonteneio - Fontenay en brie and Fontenay-Trésigny . The place name Trésigny appears only in the 18th century, after the title of Marquis de Trésigny was created. The name Fontenay-Trésigny was adopted after the revolution .

The place is on the river Breon . Neighboring municipalities are Chaumes-en-Brie , Bernay-Vilbert , Lumigny-Nesles-Ormeaux , Châtres and Marles-en-Brie .

- First mentioned in the 12th century, Le Vivier Castle , an old hunting seat of the first Capetians , was restored by King Charles V. Charles VI stayed here during his mental attacks.
- The castle of the Marquis de Trésigny dates back to the 17th century. It was rebuilt in the 19th century. Other noble residences are the Ecoublay Castle, the Bellefontaine Castle and the Manoir de Chaubuisson.
