Châtres is a French municipality with 678 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Seine-et-Marne in the region Ile-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement Provins and the canton of Fontenay-Trésigny (until 2015: canton of Tournan-en-Brie ). The inhabitants are called Châtriots .

Châtres is located about 35 kilometers southeast of Paris . Châtres is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Chapelles-Bourbon in the north, Marles-en-Brie in the northeast, Fontenay-Trésigny in the east, Chaumes-en-Brie in the southeast, Ozouer-le-Voulgis in the south and southwest, Liverdy-en-Brie in the west and south-west, Presles-en-Brie in the west and Tournan-en-Brie in the west and north-west.
The National Route 4 runs through the municipality .
