Saint-Germain-Laval is located near the Seine , which forms the southwestern municipal boundary. Saint-Germain-Laval is surrounded by the neighboring communities Laval-en-Brie in the north, Salins in the northeast, Courcelles-en-Bassée in the east, Marolles-sur-Seine in the south and southeast, Montereau-Fault-Yonne in the southwest and Forges in the Northwest.
Autoroute A5 runs along the western periphery of the municipality .
