Chaumes-en-Brie is a French commune with 3242 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Seine-et-Marne department of the Île-de-France region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Melun and the canton of Fontenay-Trésigny . The inhabitants are called Calmétiens .
geography
Chaumes-en-Brie is located about 50 kilometers east of Paris in the Brie countryside on the Yerres River , where its tributary Breon flows into. Chaumes-en-Brie is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Fontenay-Trésigny in the north, Bernay-Vilbert in the east, Courtomer in the south-east, Argentières , Beauvoir and Verneuil-l'Étang in the south, Guignes and Yèbles in the south-west and Ozouer-le-Voulgis in the West and northwest.
The National Route 36 runs through the municipality .
