Le Mée-sur-Seine is a French commune with 20,816 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Seine-et-Marne in the region Ile-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Melun and until its dissolution was the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the canton of Le Mée-sur-Seine , since then it has belonged to the canton of Savigny-le-Temple .
geography
Le Mée-sur-Seine is about two and a half kilometers west-northwest of Melun on the Seine . On the opposite bank of the Seine, in the south, lies the municipality of Dammarie-les-Lys . In the northwest is Vert-Saint-Denis . To the west lies Boissise-le-Bertrand and southwest Boissettes . Paris is 41 kilometers north-north-west of Le Mée-sur-Seine.
Le Mée-sur-Seine is divided into the quarters Le Mée Village, La Croix Blanche, Plein Ciel, Les Courtilleraies-Gare and Les Courtilleraies-Circé.
history
The Senones are said to have settled here around the birth of Christ. In 1225 the place is mentioned as Mas . The first church was not built until 1771.
