Anne-Françoise-Hippolyte Boutet , better known as Mademoiselle Mars (born February 9, 1779 in Paris , † March 20, 1847 there ), was a French actress .

Life

She was the daughter of the actors Monvel (real Jacques-Marie Boutet) and Jeanne-Marguerite Salvetat (also known as Madame Mars). She joined the Comédie-Française in 1795 thanks to the help of actress Louise Contat . Her career was very successful. She also trained actors such as Charlotta Eriksson and Emilie Högquist . She initially played roles in Molière and Marivaux , but then turned to modern drama and appeared on the stage during the Battle of Hernani in 1830 .
