Émile Dind

Émile Dind (born March 29, 1855 in Saint-Cierges , † September 11, 1932 in Lausanne , resident in Saint-Cierges) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

biography

Dind studied medicine in Paris , Geneva , Bern (where he received his doctorate in 1879), Tübingen , Vienna and Lausanne . From 1891 to 1925 he was professor of dermatology at the University of Lausanne , where he was also rector from 1904 to 1906 .

As a free-spirited representative he was on the municipal council of Lausanne from 1897 to 1905 and on the Grand Council of the Canton of Vaud from 1901 to 1921 , which he chaired in 1911. From 1917 to 1931 he was a member of the Council of States , where he was a member of the finance delegation of the federal councils and numerous commissions.

As a family politician, he was the initiator of the cantonal law of 1918 on children placed outside the family and the cantonal law on welfare. He was also a member of the Vaudois Lung League and co-founder of the Polyclinic of the University of Lausanne. He was also president of the Société vaudoise de médecine .
