The Île d'Ogoz is a small island in Lake Gruyère in the Swiss canton of Friborg .

The Île d'Ogoz was built in 1948 after the arch dam for Lake Gruyère was completed in Rossens in the north of the reservoir. There are two castle ruins and a chapel on the island . The two adjacent towers on the island of Ogoz, with their annex buildings, belonged to two independent castles. Both were the seat of a divided rule and each consisted of a tower with an associated residential wing. The two towers were built in the last third of the 13th century. Before the construction of the dam, the hill with the castle ruins formed a peninsula in the course of the Saane .

The island rises 11 meters above the normal water level of the lake. When the water level is low (677 meters above sea level). (<668 m above sea level) '' d. H. Especially in spring, the Île d'Ogoz temporarily becomes a peninsula again , which means that it can be reached on foot. In Pont-en-Ogoz there is a small dock for boats that bring visitors to the island. The island of Ogoz is an important tourist destination in the canton of Friborg.

The region of Ogoz in the Saane district and the Gruyère district with the villages of Farvagny , Vuisternens-en-Ogoz and Pont-en-Ogoz ( Gumefens ) is named after the island .
