Óscar Husillos Domingo (born July 18, 1993 in Astudillo , Palencia Province ) is a Spanish athlete who competes over the sprint distances. In 2019 he became two-time vice European champion at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow.

Athletic career

Óscar Husillos first appeared in the spring of 2010 at the Spanish U18 indoor championships, where he won the gold medal over 200 meters. A year later he also won gold over the same distance in the older age group U20. In 2012 he took part in international championships for the first time at the U20 World Championships in his Spanish homeland. Over the 200 meters he reached the semifinals, in which he finished last of his run in 21.82 s. Together with the 4 x 100 meter relay, he missed the next round as fourth in the heat a day later. The next seasons he mainly competed in competitions on the Iberian Peninsula. In 2014 he competed as part of the Spanish 4 x 200 meter relay at the IAAF World Relays in the Bahamas, where the quartet was disqualified in advance. After the 2014 season, Husillos focused more and more on the 400-meter run.

Between 2015 and 2017, he improved his best time over the stadium lap by more than three seconds to 45.16 s. With the sprint relay, he did not get past the lead at the 2016 European Championships in Amsterdam. In spring 2017 he competed over 400 meters at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade, where he finished ninth in 47.83 s. In August he then set his fastest time at the World Championships in London, which brought him to the semi-finals. Together with the relay, Husillos then took fifth place in 3: 00.65 s, which also meant a new national record. In 2018 he competed at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham. As the fastest in the semifinals, he moved into the final, in which, however , he was disqualified together with Luguelín Santos due to leaving the respective track. In August he finished sixth in 45.61 s at the European Championships in Berlin. With the relay he won the bronze medal on the final day.

In 2019 Husillos won two silver medals at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow. In the individual over 400 meters he set a new national record with 45.66 seconds. He won the second silver medal with the relay in 3: 06.32 s. With the relay he also appeared in October at the World Championships in Doha, where she was eliminated in sixth of their preliminary run.
