Öfingen is a district of the city of Bad Dürrheim in the Black Forest-Baar district in Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ).

location

Öfingen is located at the eastern end of the Baar plateau between the southern Black Forest and the Swabian Alb and offers a very good view of the Baar, the Black Forest and parts of the Swiss Alps.

This means that Öfingen is halfway between the Baar (Oberbaldingen, approx. 695 m) and its local mountain, the Himmelberg (941 m) in the east of the village.

history

The first written mention of Öfingen is dated to 973. At that time, Duke Berchthold bequeathed Öfingen to the Reichenau Monastery in his will . In 1377 Öfingen came to Württemberg and became Protestant almost 200 years later in 1555. The Öfinger Church is an example of a medieval fortified church.

Öfingen, which was incorporated into Bad Dürrheim on September 1, 1971, plays an important role in Bad Dürrheim's spa events thanks to the holiday village built in 1984. With the Osterberghalle, a multi-purpose hall has been available to clubs since 1988. Since May 1991, Öfingen has had the title “state-approved resort”.

Since 1999, the holiday village north of Öfingen has been the location of the Meteomedia AG weather studio , which also broadcasts weather broadcasts for ARD.

coat of arms

Coat of arms of Öfingen
Blazon : "Under a golden (yellow) shield head, inside a black deer pole, in silver (white) a red lion."
Justification of the coat of arms: The coat of arms awarded in 1897 shows the lion of the Barons von Wartenberg , who ruled the village from 1377 to 1810. Then it went to Württemberg , which is symbolized by the deer pole.
