The Örekilsälven (also Kvistrumsån ) is a river in the Swedish province of Västra Götalands län .
The Örekilsälven has its source south of Dals-Ed . From there the river flows over a length of 70 km in a south-southwest direction through the historic provinces of Dalsland and Bohuslän . It flows through Lake Kärnsjön and the small town of Munkedal , before flowing into the Saltkällefjorden in the inner part of Gullmarn , a fjord on the Skagerrak coast. The largest tributary is the Munkedalsälven , which comes from the east 5 km before the mouth of the Örekilsälven meets the sea. The catchment area of the Örekilsälven covers 1340.2 km². The mean discharge at the mouth is 22 m³ / s.
