geography
Ötlingen is about 2.5 kilometers west of Kirchheim unter Teck . The district is 375 hectares.
history
In the Lorsch Codex , Ötlingen was first mentioned in 788 as the village of Adiningen . In the 12th century the place was owned by the Zähringers . From 1152 to 1156, Duke Bertold IV von Zähringen pledged Hetlingen together with Teck Castle to Emperor Barbarossa . Then Ötlingen came to the Dukes of Teck and Kirchheim nobles, and finally to Württemberg at the end of the 14th century . The Kirchheimer Spital, the Barefoot Monastery in Esslingen am Neckar , the Denkendorf Monastery and the Martinskirche foundations also had manorial rights.
Agriculture was the main source of income in the village for a long time, the early connection to the railway network (1864) changed this situation, and factories soon settled here. In 1935 the forced incorporation into Kirchheim took place, the municipal council and the mayor were abolished. It was not until 1992 that the Kirchheim town council decided to set up a local council again in Ötlingen and to appoint a volunteer mayor. Ötlingen was thus put on an equal footing with the municipalities of Jesingen and Nabern, which were incorporated into the administrative reform in 1974 .
