The Überetscher Hut ( Italian Rifugio Oltradige al Roen ) is a refuge in the South Tyrolean part of the Nonsberg Group in Italy .
Location and surroundings
The Überetscher Hut is located at 1775 m on a small terrace a little northeast of the summit of the Roen ( 2116 m ), which is the highest point of the Mendelkamm . This drops steeply to the east into the Adige Valley . At the foot of the Roen in the Unterland is the place Tramin ( 276 m ), on whose municipal area the hut is located.
The easiest way to reach the Überetscher hut from northern Mendola over the Roenalm (Italian Malga Romeno ). There are also paths up from Altenburg and Tramin. A secured via ferrata leads from the hut to the summit of the Roen. A path leads south to the Schwarzkopf, a secondary peak.
history
The Überetsch section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club (DÖAV), founded in 1910, built the Überetscher Hut in 1912, which was inaugurated in 1913. After the First World War , the hut was expropriated by the Italian state and handed over to the Bozen section of the Club Alpino Italiano (CAI) in 1924 .
