Übersee is the second album by the German brass band LaBrassBanda . The place overseas at the Chiemsee is the origin of the band members. The album was released in October 2009 by the independent label Trikont , was produced by the band itself and recorded by Willy Löster in the band's recording studio. It is the group's first album to reach a chart. The album was released on CD and as a record (including MP3 downloads).

background

style

Like its predecessor Habediehre , the second album by the Chiemgau band brought with it great difficulties in defining the style; Journalists invented new terms to describe them, such as "Kirchweih-Techno" or "Tuba-Funk". The album again contains a mix from many different directions. So Bauersbua a rap , Des konnst glam can the Reggae are assigned and beer tent is more of the pop-rock belong. Übersee shows the same musical style as the debut album.

Success and texts

After the debut album had not yet appeared directly in the charts, the entry from Übersee to number 39 in the German album charts represents a great success for the band. The large number of successfully completed live performances both before and after the album was released contributed to the steady increase growing awareness of the five musicians. Nevertheless, Übersee left the ranking again after four weeks.

While almost half of Habediehre consisted of instrumental pieces, all of the songs on this album except for Nanana and Ofree have texts that are again sung in Bavarian dialect and written by the band itself. The subjects of the lyrics on this album are broad. While relationships used to play a very large role in the lyrics, the songs are now also about other, everyday things. Sometimes very thoughtful titles like Doda Hos or Rotes Hoserl give the album a greater seriousness.

Like the previous album, Übersee received an entry in the "Top-of-the-World-Album" list of Songlines Magazine . The London music magazine put the album at number five. Editor Lemez Lovas awarded five stars out of five and wrote:

"[With] Übersee, LaBrassBanda might just have delivered the surprise underground hit of the year. [...] It's fresh, confident and totally unlike anything else out there. "

“With overseas, LaBrassBanda probably delivered the 'underground' hit of the year. (...) It's fresh, confident and completely different from everything else. "

The Indigo label says about the album Übersee:

"By the way, you suddenly know what Bavarian brass music can be: twitching offbeats, thumping basses [and] unabashed lyrics."
