The vehicles of the ČD series 799 are two-axle shunting locomotives of the Czech railway company České dráhy (ČD), which were created from machines of the series 700 , 701 and 702 as part of a reconstruction program . The two-engine locomotives have a diesel engine and an accumulator . They are primarily used for shunting in locomotive depots .

history

Loner with radio remote control: 799.040

JLS (ČMKS-Jihlavská lokomotivní společnost, sro) delivered 39 locomotives of the 799 series to ČD from 1992 to 1997. In 2000 two more machines were built. The 799.040 was the only one in the series to be factory-fitted with a radio remote control. Outwardly, it differs from its sister machines by the yellow all-round lights on the two stems.

In the restructuring of the ČD locomotive fleet, the 704 and 799 series are primarily intended for shunting services. Whereby the small locomotives 799, often nicknamed “Papamobile”, are rather lavishly equipped shunting devices in terms of performance and whether their low top speed is not particularly appreciated by the staff. Where available and the duty roster allows, a class 704 is used or older locomotives are still available as a nominal reserve, which then actually perform the service.

Constructive features

The frame, the wheel sets including the axle drives and the mechanical parts of the brakes were reused from the donor vehicles of the original series . In contrast to other conversions on the same basis, the 799 series has symmetrical stems. One of them houses the 70 KPM 250 P battery, which can deliver a maximum output of 19.5 kW. In the other front end is the Zetor type Z 5801 diesel engine with 37 kW, as well as the auxiliaries. The air compressor attached directly to the engine only operates the sand spreader and the horn. The diesel engine drives the AC main generator of type A 225 via a flexible coupling. The TE 022 electric traction motor, which can be fed either from the generator or the battery, transfers its torque via another flexible coupling to a likewise new, mechanical transmission, which is via the originally existing cardan shafts and axle drive acts on the wheelsets.

Apart from its location on the main frame, the cab is identical to that of the 798 series .

A drum brake is installed on the coupling between the drive motor and the gearbox . In addition, the locomotive has a regenerative, electrodynamic resistance brake and a magnetic rail brake .
