The GBK 001–003 were tank locomotives of the Brucher coal works union for the transport of the sand railway trains on the Brucher sand railway . The three locomotives were the only five-coupled tank locomotives in Austria-Hungary .

history

GBK 001–003 diagram

The Brucher Coal Works union needed powerful locomotives with a low axle pressure of 14.5 t for their sand railway .

Accordingly, the First Bohemian-Moravian Machine Works in Prague designed a five-fold coupled tank locomotive, in which only the second, third and fourth coupling axles were fixed to allow a drivable curve radius of 100 m. The first and fifth coupling axles were axially adjustable by 26 mm, which resulted in a fixed wheelbase of 2,700 mm with a total wheelbase of 5,500 mm. The symmetrical structure allowed an equally good use in both directions of travel.

Lignite was used to fire the locomotives . A typical external feature for this is the powerful spark arrester based on the ATE design.

In order to automatically unload the wagons with which the sand was transported, the locomotives had a compressed air system.

At the Bruch coal works, the locomotives were given the numbers 001 to 003. The locomotives were not classified in the numbering scheme of the Aussig-Teplitz Railway - which operated the sand railway . After the nationalization of ATE (1924), the Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD gave them the new series designation 514.1.
