History of the locomotives 4281/1916 and 4282/1916

In the series U 45.9 plurality been narrow gauge - Tender locomotives of forest paths incorporated different manufacturers with similar characteristics and performance. This article contains the locomotives of MÁVAG and O&K . For information on other locomotives in this performance class, see U 45.905-906 and U 45.907-910 .

Two machines with the serial numbers 4281/1916 (U 45.901) and 4282/1916 were built in 1916 by MÁVAG in Budapest and used by the OLŽ in the same year. The locomotives correspond to the MÁVAG type 85 . This represented the first locomotives of the new railway company. With the drive on the first and fourth axles, the locomotives were particularly well suited for the narrow radii of the narrow-gauge railway. The locomotive with the road number U 45.901 was in service until the end of the 1950s and was transferred to the Kysuce Museum in Čadca in 1974 with the rest of the track stock. A fire in the locomotive shed of the Vychylovka Forest Railway in 1988 damaged the locomotive. Between 1989 and 1991 the locomotive was refurbished in Prague, and the driver's cab was changed. The locomotive was used with the U 34.9 locomotive until 1999 . It is currently not operational due to damage to the steam boiler.

The locomotive with the serial number 4282/16 was taken out of service in 1953 and was used as a spare parts store at Zákamenné in the 1960s .

History of the locomotives 4279/1916 and 4280/1916

Other locomotives of the type with the serial numbers 4279/1916 (U 45.902) and 4280/1916 (U 45.903) were used in the former forest railway near Pribylina near Liptovský Hrádok and are now part of the inventory of the Liptovskej dediny Museum.

History of the locomotives 5855/1912 and 9424/1920

In contrast to their sister models, the locomotives with the serial numbers 5855/1912 and 9424/1920 were manufactured in the Orenstein & Koppel factories in 1912 (machine 5855) and 1920 (machine 9424). The two machines were used in today's Slovakia on the former Spišská Belá forest railway .

In 1937 the 9424/1920 machine was sold to the RŠLS Liptovský Hrádok railway company. This locomotive has been running under the number U45.904 since 1938. In 1963 the locomotive was sold to the Road Construction Office in Žilina, where the locomotive's boiler was used as a heating boiler.

Machine 5855/1912 was sold to Považská Lesná Železnica in 1939 . It was given the number U45.905. On December 23, 1959, the locomotive received a new boiler in the ÈSD Vrútky workshop.
