Michael Stockigt

Michael Stöckigt (* 1957 in Berlin ) is a German conductor , composer and pianist .

Life

Stöckigt comes from a family of musicians. His father, the pianist Siegfried Stöckigt , encouraged him musically from an early age. From 1968 to 1974 he attended the Hanns Eisler Special School for Music in Berlin . Soon he was busy composing. Works by him were already performed during his training. From 1973 he was a master student for composition with Günter Kochan . He looked after him during his studies (composition, conducting and piano) from 1974 to 1979 at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin .

Since 1982 he has been working as a freelance composer and pianist (also harpsichordist and organist ). In 1984 and 1985 he took part in the International Summer Academy for Early Music in Innsbruck. From 1983 to 1989 he performed with Egon Morbitzer (violin) and Karl-Heinz Schröter (cello) in the chamber music ensemble. Since 1989 he has been playing in a duo with Sylvio Krause (violin). Guest performances took Stöckigt through Europe and to Syria. In 1987 he conducted Kurt Sanderling's conducting course in Weimar. From 1993 to 2006 he was a répétiteur at the European Music Academy in Bonn . During this time he worked a. a. with Aurèle Nicolet , Judith Beckmann , Ana Chumachenco and Agnes Giebel .

In the meantime, many works by Michael Stöckigt have been performed and have been awarded prizes at international competitions, for example in Australia, Austria and Italy. His compositions were u. a. Performed by the Leipzig Consort , the Dresden Philharmonic and the Berlin Symphony Orchestra . In addition, he is a lecturer for composition, ear training and score playing at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin and since 1996 for chamber music and accompaniment at the Rostock University of Music and Theater .
