İbrahim Açıkmeşe

İbrahim Açıkmeşe (* 1950 in Ardeşen , Rize Province ) is a Turkish former lieutenant general of the Gendarmerie ( Jandarma ) , who was last Chief of the Gendarmerie (Jandarma Genel Komutanlığı Kurmay Başkanı) from 2007 to 2008 .

Life

After attending school, Açıkmeşe began officer training at the Army School ( Kara Harp Okulu ) , which he completed in 1968. After a subsequent visit to the infantry school (Piyade Okulu) he graduated from the officers' school of the gendarmerie (Jandarma Subay Okulu) between 1969 and 1970 . After that, between 1970 and 1980 he was employed in various gendarmerie units, one after the other as commander of the gendarmerie in Eşme , as platoon leader and company commander in the motorized gendarmerie regiment in Ankara , as commander of the gendarmerie in Erciş , as head of the public security department of the gendarmerie in Gaziantep as well as company commander of a training company at the gendarmerie school in Foça .

After Açıkmeşe had graduated from the Army Academy ( Kara Harp Akademisi ) between 1980 and 1982 , he was commander of the training battalion of the Gendarmerie School in Foça and graduated from the Armed Forces Academy (Silahlı Kuvetler Akademisi) in 1984 . This was followed by a position as head of the planning department in the intelligence department at the headquarters of the gendarmerie and then as chief of staff of the 2nd Gendarmerie Training Brigade in Çanakkale , before he was head of the department for planning and coordination in the department for general basic planning at the headquarters of the gendarmerie . This was followed by a position as chief of staff of the 22nd Gendarmerie Border Brigade in Mardin and from 1990 to 1992 as the commander of the 116th Gendarmerie Training Regiment. He was then commander of the training and teaching regiment of the gendarmerie school from 1992 to 1993 and head of the department for general planning and coordination at the gendarmerie headquarters from 1993 to 1995, before he was general secretary of the gendarmerie headquarters between 1995 and 1996.

After being promoted to Brigadier General (Tuğgeneral) , Açıkmeşe became commander of the Tunceli Regional Gendarmerie Command (Tunceli Jandarma Bölge Komutanlığı) in 1996 , which includes the Bingöl, Elazığ, Muş and Tunceli provincial gendarmerie commandos . This was followed by an activity as commander of the gendarmerie schools (Jandarma Okullar Komutanlığı) between 1998 and 2000 . After he was promoted to major general (Tümgeneral) in 2000, he acted as head of planning and basic planning of the gendarmerie from 2000 to 2002 and was then commander of the gendarmerie schools again between 2002 and 2003, before he was again commander of the gendarmerie from 2003 to 2004 -Regional Commandos Tunceli was.

In 2004 Açıkmeşe was promoted to lieutenant general (co- general ) and then held the post of commander of the gendarmerie training command (Jandarma Eğitim Komutanlığı) in Ankara between 2004 and 2006 , before he was then head of the inspection department at the gendarmerie's headquarters from 2006 to 2007.
