action

In the year 2082 the earth will take part in the great race on Ōban. The main prize is that the "Avatar", a being endowed with almost infinite powers, fulfills the winner's wish, be it rule over the universe, planets destroyed or even the resurrection of loved ones. Eva Wei, a student from Earth, flees school to meet her father Don Wei, the chairman of the large Wei Racing group. Don Wei has not seen his daughter for many years. Don Wei takes her on to his team, but she doesn't tell him that she is his biological daughter, but pretends to be "Molly" in order to get to know her father better. Shortly before the first race, however, the world's top racing pilot, Rick Thunderbolt, is the victim of a sabotage attack. Don Wei therefore uses another member of his racing team as a replacement. The ship's gunner, Jordan Wilde, turns out to be a miserable pilot. Molly steals the ship and flies amazingly well, so Don Wei decides that Molly is the only one who can represent Rick in the big race. Affected by the death of her mother, a famous racing pilot, Molly desperately wants her father's team to win.

characters

Eva Wei (Molly)

Molly's real name is Eva, she is 15 years old and lost her mother in a racing accident. She is a lovable, sometimes rebellious girl and a talented mechanic and pilot. Molly leaves boarding school to find her father, Don Wei. She is very attached to the old memories and wishes that everything would be the same as before, when her mother was still alive and her father was interested in her. When she meets Don Wei, Molly does not reveal herself at first. The right opportunity soon arises for Molly to earn her father's respect. She jumps in as a racing pilot and befriends her co-pilot Jordan. But Molly seems to have more feelings for her ally Prince Aikka.

At the end of the series, she lives happily with her father, and she no longer goes to boarding school.

Don Wei

Don Wei is Molly's father and an ambitious, demanding team leader. He makes enormous demands on the team. Ten years before the big race, he lost his wife Maya in a racing accident. He was so shaken that he broke off his lifestyle at the time, leaving his team and even his little daughter Eva behind. When Don Wei realizes that Molly is his daughter Eva, he thinks of the past.

Maya Wei

Maya is Molly's mother and Don Wei's wife. She was once one of the best racing drivers on earth. However, Maya died in a racing accident 10 years ago. Although she is dead, she appears quite often in the episodes through Molly and Don Wei's memories.

Jordan C. Wilde

Jordan is a 17 year old military academy graduate. He meets aliens for the first time on the planet Alwas, which initially unsettles him. At the beginning he only accepted Molly moderately as a new pilot, but over time he sees her as more of a teammate. He notices the special relationship between Prince Aikka and Molly, which makes him jealous. In the last episode, The Moment of Truth , he becomes an Avatar when he tries to defeat Canaletto and thus save Eva. He admits that he is in love with Eva and kisses her before Team Earth starts their journey home.

Rick Thunderbolt

Rick Thunderbolt is the top pilot on the racing team until he is involved in an accident and has to end his career. He takes over the position of racing coach and becomes a kind of father figure for Jordan and Molly. After completing the job, he leaves the team, even before the start of the grand finale on Ōban. The sight of the two successful pilots is unbearable for him. Rick found out in the episode Silent Like Spirit that Molly is Don Weis' daughter, but kept it to himself.

Koji & Stan

Koji & Stan are the mechanics of the Erden team. You originally worked for Miguel. Koji specializes in computer systems while Stan specializes in propulsion systems. You could teach a toaster to fly yourself.

Prince Aikka

Aikka is a Nourasian and prince of his world. He is accompanied during the races by his mentor, a fencing master. Just as it is for humans, it is important for Prince Aikka to win the race, otherwise the Crogs will rule his world too. Although Molly and Aikka meet several times at the beginning of the story, they only get closer on Ōban. But both Don Wei and Aikka's fencing master try to separate them. The waves calm down and a deep friendship even develops between Aikka and Molly after the prince helps the earthly team out of a very threatening situation. G'dar is Prince Aikka's star racer. A huge scarab that does not fly excessively fast, but that does fly and that is the main thing. The prince's strength is not his racer Gdar, but rather his magical powers. Gdar has the advantage of being a living being and so is independent and can have its own reflexes, which should not be neglected.

The avatar

A huge, powerful being who is selected every 10,000 years by winning the race of Ōban.

Satis

Satis is always in a good mood and mentor the Earth team on the planet Alwas. But it also plays a decisive role in another context. Because he is also a super racer one of the opponents on the planet Alwas and also the avatar.

Canaletto

Canaletto, also known as "The Eternal Timeless", was the avatar before Satis. He wants to become an Avatar again and use the Force to destroy millions of stars. He is being held captive in the Flying Temple on Ōban. In order to become avatar again, he manipulates the race and thus helps Molly to victory, because she is unwilling to become avatar through further manipulations on his part. This rejection creates the opportunity to take Molly's place.

The Arrow

The Arrow is the Earth Team's racing ship. There are three different copies in the course of the series

Arrow I: Was sabotaged and thereby destroyed in the first race.

Arrow II: Is the Earth Team's replacement racer. It was destroyed in the race against Spirit.

Arrow III: Was built after the race against Spirit by Stan & Koji with the help of Flint & Marcel. It was built from the remains of other Star-Racers in the Star-Racer cemetery. The Arrow III has an improved hyperdrive and is faster, stronger and safer than the Arrow II.

opponent

Spirit

Spirit is the ambassador of the Fihls; he has the ability to transform his body into an airplane and is therefore his star racer himself. He was involved in the accident with Molly's mother Maya and is suspected of killing her. In episode 11 as silent as Spirit it is revealed that he really wanted to save Maya.

Colonel Toros

Is the pilot of the Crogs who has the assignment to move into the finals. Losing a race to Molly, he is executed on his home planet as Crogs do not accept defeat. He is succeeded by General Kross.

General Kross

General Kross replaces Colonel Toros as the Crogs pilot. He wants to use the power of the Avatar to wage war against other races. He dies in the final race when his star racer is pressed to the ground by the Arrow III and explodes.

Rush

Rush lives on the planet Byrus and works as a space miner. In the preliminary rounds he was seriously injured by Colonel Toros and gave up the race.

Sul

Sul is a magician who is said to be as powerful as the Avatar. He is the ruler of space and time, and he also determines the future. His racer is a "pyramid" that he creates through magic, and in the final he was ahead by many points. But during the 7th race he is lured into a trap by Canaletto: he disappears through a Transdimensional Gate. After that, he was never seen again. It is lost in another dimension.

Ning & Skun

Two sisters from the planet Inna. Outwardly, both are very similar to a succubus. Skun is very strong and has sharp fingernails that can easily pierce the torso of a star racer. They want to win the race of Ōban to reunite their people who are scattered throughout the universe. Your Star Racer consists of two single-seaters, which can also be put together to form a racer.

Ondai

Ondai is a highly developed robot that made it to the final at Oban. The reason for participating is to find out what it's like to have feelings through the greatest of all prizes. Regardless of this, he is nevertheless convinced of the superiority of machines over living things. His star racer is a robot modeled after himself, which can both fly and fight on the ground.

O

O is a living being that looks like a two-meter-tall tear with a huge eye. He's staying out of a lot of matters but is one of the better ones in the race. In the penultimate episode, he sacrifices himself to save Molly, Aikka and Jordan.

Muir

This being looks like a gigantic cancer. His comrade was killed by hunters because the tentacles on the back of his species, which are used for telepathic communication, are considered a hunting trophy. When he learns that he cannot revive his comrade by winning the Oban race, he abandons the race.

Lord Furter

Lord Furter is the captain of a pirate crew who take part in the race with their star racers, which are modeled on a ship. Molly defeated him in the first race on Ōban.

Paradice

Paradice is an alien, modeled after a cat, and likes to play pranks on her opponents.

Ceres

A faceless pilot who is the last survivor of the Mong people.

Flint

Flint is Alwas' local favorite.

Grooor

Grooor is the champion from the planet Pirus. He tries not only to defeat his opponents, but also to humiliate them. He's also a bad loser. His star racer is made of polarized titanium.
