Štefan Svitek (born November 20, 1966 in Gelnica , Czechoslovakia) is a former Slovak basketball player. In the 1990s he played for several clubs in the German basketball league and should not be confused with his younger compatriot Štefan Svitek , who also played in the BBL from 2003 for the BG Karlsruhe .

The 2.04-meter-tall winger was initially a national player for Czechoslovakia and took part in the European basketball championships in 1987 and 1991 . After the EM in 1991 in Rome , he joined the BBL and initially played in Braunschweig. With Brandt Hagen he won the cup in 1994 . After two years in Bamberg from 1996 to 1998, he moved to Ulm for two years. In 2000 he left Ulm for the DJK Falke Nürnberg . At the beginning of 2001 he was announced as a new addition to Arkadia Traiskirchen . Then he played for a few years in Košice in his home country. Svitek is said to have played for the Salgótarjáni KSE in Hungary until 2008 .

He worked as the coach of the Hungarian women's national team and from 2013 as the coach of the Polish women's team Wisla Can-Pack-Krakow. In 2012 and 2013 he was voted the best Slovak coach of the year. In 2017 he took over the coaching position of the Czech women's national team.
