Ștefan Vodă ( Russian Штефан-Водэ , Ukrainian Штефан-Воде ) is a city with about 7000 inhabitants (2014) and the administrative center of the Raion Ștefan Vodă in the southeast of the Republic of Moldova .
In the city, first mentioned in writing in 1884, the German colony Kizil was founded in 1909 . Since May 1990 the city, which was called Suvorovo ( Суворов ) during the Soviet rule , has had its current name.
The total area of the city is 2,276 hectares , 1,739 hectares of which are agricultural land. Ștefan Vodă is located at 158 m altitude on the regional road 30 28 km southeast of Căușeni and about 100 km southeast of the capital Chișinău .
