The ( lower case ɒ) is a letter of the Latin writing system . It's a vertically mirrored version of the letter .

In the international phonetic alphabet, the lowercase letter ɒ is the symbol for the rounded open back vowel . The letter is used in American phonetic notation for the same purpose. There voiceless vowels are represented by the capitalization of the corresponding letter, accordingly the capital letter Ɒ there represents the voiceless version of the ɒ.
