... and the Amazon is silent is a German-Brazilian adventure film from 1963 with Barbara Rütting and Harald Leipnitz in the leading roles.

action

Susanne's father once moved to the Amazon to explore this area in northern Brazil. However, he never returned from his trip. A reason for Susanne to set out to investigate the disappearance of her father. In the jungle she and her companion, Pedro, of German descent, quickly fall into the hands of an all-powerful, despotic villain.

This man, who modestly lets himself be called the “green Napoleon”, ruled a rubber plantation in a cruel regiment. The natives are enslaved and exploited. Susanne's research reveals that the brutal exploiter is her father's murderer. While fleeing, she has to endure a series of great dangers until the murder of her father is finally atoned for.

Production notes

... and the Amazon is silent was filmed in Brazil. The film passed the FSK exam on December 4, 1963, and premiered two days later.

The production line had Alfred Bittins . Alexandre Horvart designed the buildings. Franz Thierry was production manager.
