(11754) Herbig is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 24 September 1960 by the Dutch astronomer Cornelis Johannes van Houten , Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels at Palomar Observatory ( IAU code 675) in California was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the astronomer George Howard Herbig , whose research area is star formation and who gave his name to the Herbig-Haro objects .
