(1293) Sonja is an asteroid of the main belt running between the planetary orbits of Mars and Jupiter . Sonja was discovered on September 26, 1933 by the Belgian astronomer Eugène Joseph Delporte at the Royal Observatory in Ukkel (Brussels).

The asteroid was named at the suggestion of the orbit calculator; the derivation of the name is not known.
