(13534) Alain-Fournier is an asteroid of the outer main belt , which was discovered on September 4, 1991 by the Belgian astronomer E. W. Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile .

The asteroid belongs to the Themis family, a group of asteroids named after (24) Themis .

(13534) Alain-Fournier was named on September 9, 2014 after the French writer and literary critic Alain-Fournier (1886-1914), who created a classic in French literature with the novel The Great Meaulnes , published in 1913 .
